So when institutions such as Christie’s make such claims and CryptoPunk creators fail to correct, such claims will be checked and corrected by people like @wasthatawolf and @robnessofficial. Or people by their housing. DEATH PUNK 281 (Guardians) is a remix of Grant Woods’ American Gothic, one of the most familiar images of 20th-century American Art. In 1930, Woods was inspired to paint a house in Eldon, IOWA, and included ‘the kind of people he fancied should live in that house.’ Woods’ depiction of ‘the kind of people’ faced criticism for it was suggested his interpretation showed a ‘backwards’ couple and that he had judged Iowans as "pinched, grim-faced, puritanical Bible-thumpers". However, this was not at all what Woods’ interpretation had been. Rather, he claimed it was a depiction of his appreciation for Iowans, and the painting has since been described by critics as a depiction of the steadfast American pioneer spirit.
